Tomorrow Apple’s “Surprise and shine.” event is taking place.

To me it’s a bit like a football match or a movie premiere.

It’s a time to get excited. Grab some drinks, invite friends, order pizza and to see what is going to be trendy in tech for the next year.

Earlier in my life, I used to consider openly taking part in such major pop-culture and tech events cringe and I felt like I’m somehow above all of that. Over time though, I realized that it actually can help me feel less lonely and isolated. You get to be excited about something together with millions of other people.

Joining major pop-culture events can give a sense of belonging. It can bring you into new communities. And sometimes it can simply be a reason to see your friends and spend an evening together.

I asked my friends and colleagues what they’re looking forward to this or a beginning of the next year.
